Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) Update Archive

During the early stages of CERP planning and implementation, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and South Florida Water Management District produced updates on CERP progress for the public.



 Committee on Restoration of the Greater Everglades Ecosystem (CROGEE) Archive

The Committee on Restoration of the Greater Everglades Ecosystem (CROGEE) was established in 1999 to provide consensus advice to the South Florida Ecosystem Restoration Task Force (Task Force). The CROGEE, formed through the National Research Council, produced several reports during the early 2000s on scientific and technical aspects of the restoration effort. It has since been replaced by the Committee on Independent Scientific Review of Everglades Restoration Progress (CISRERP).



 Government Accountability Office (GAO) Archives

The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) is an independent, non-partisan agency that prepares reports and testimony for Congress on ways to increase federal government efficiency and conserve fiscal resources. During the early stages of restoration planning, the GAO prepared reports on the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP), the overall Everglades restoration program, and the South Florida Ecosystem Restoration Task Force (Task Force).



 Governor’s Commission for a Sustainable South Florida Reports

The Governor’s Commission for a Sustainable South Florida was established in 1994 by Governor Lawton Chiles “to develop a healthy Everglades Ecosystem with sustainable economies and quality communities.” The Commission included a wide range of stakeholders and helped forge consensus during the early stages of restoration planning. The Commission issued a series of reports during the late 1990s prior to Congressional authorization of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP).
